Thai exporters seek Pakistani rice for China

Rice dealers in Thailand are looking to buy grain from Pakistan for delivery to China, traders said, as the Thai government’s policy of setting a relatively high minimum price for the grain threatens its status as a top exporter. “Pakistan’s prices were cheaper so Thai exporters could make a profit from that rather than buying from domestic markets, which have been pushed up by the government,” a Thai trader said.
India, Pakistan meet to do away the trade barriers

If everything goes well, Indo-Pak trade is going to improve significantly in the coming days. The two seem to be very sincere in opening the trading routes and making business easy between two estranged neighbors.
The two neighboring nations are holding three-day joint secretary- level talks in New Delhi with a view to boosting bilateral trade and investment and strengthening economic ties, officials said Wednesday.
Expo Pakistan 2010…..Karachi

A three day trade fair “Expo Pakistan 2010” ends at Expo Center Karachi. Over 900 investors from 55 countries would be participating in the event. The event is being organized by Trade Development Authority. More than 400 stalls featuring Textile, Engineering, Agro food, Surgical and Pharmaceutical goods, I.T, Home and Décor, Handicrafts and Jewelry have been setup in the trade fair.
PAKISTAN: Strike goes ahead at US$20m export cost

Member mills of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) observed a nationwide strike today (18 March) against the restrictions on the exports of cotton yarn from the country, with the action estimated to have cost US$20m in textile and garment exports.

Pakistan has finally succeeded in securing a European Union preferential trade deal nearly two years after the EU proposed a relaxation of tariffs to help the South Asian country’s economy recover after devastating floods.
