‘Lifestyle Pakistan’ expo gets impressive response

The “Lifestyle Pakistan” exhibition organised by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration with India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) received marvellous response from Indians who rushed to the venue to buy Pakistani brands.

The event was jointly inaugurated on April 12, 2012 by the Indian Commerce Minister Anand Sharma, Pakistan Secretary Commerce, Chief Executive TDAP Tariq Iqbal Puri and High Commissioner of Pakistan to India Shahid Malik.

Delhi to host Pakistani lifestyle expo

From clothing lines to home furnishings to accessories – more than 100 Pakistani companies are set to showcase their exquisite collections at a four-day Lifestyle Pakistan exhibition, the first such to be held here from April 12. Participants hope it will boost trade between the two nations.

Jointly organised by the Indian and Pakistani, Lifestyle Pakistan will be held at the Pragati Maidan exhibition grounds. Apart from the exhibition, four fashion shows by Pakistan`s textile and design houses will be featured, a statement said.

‘Pakistani plastics have export potential’

The made in Pakistan plastic goods can compete international markets if the government formulates policies to support this sector, Pakistan Plastic Manufacturers Association (PPMA) Chairman Shakeel Ahmed said on Saturday.

“Pakistan has potential to export finished plastic goods to the international markets subject to supportive government policies,” he said talking to media on the first day of the 8th International Plastic Printing and Packaging Industry & International Food Equipment & Technology (3P) Exhibition that opened at Expo Centre Lahore.

Expo ‘It’s all about Chemistry” inaugurated

A Traveling Expo on “It’s all about Chemistry” inaugurated at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, jointly organized by Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) Islamabad, Embassy of France and Science Centre, France on Tuesday. Prof Dr. Ghulam Raza Bhatti Pro-Vice Chancellor Shikarpur Campus SALU, Khairpur inaugurated the Expo. On the occasion, addressing the ceremony Prof Dr. Ghulam Raza Bhatti said that we must strive hard for the science, because the science is must for the development of country and travelling expo is the great effort of PSF. This expo will pave the way of knowledge to researchers and students.

Garment sector loses $800 million export orders

The garment sector lost export orders of $800 million during the first five months of this fiscal year because of the electricity crisis. The garment exports declined by 10 per cent in October and 17 per cent in November.

“If the European Union puts a ceiling on the export of seven items which are included in the market access package, the garment exports will fall further and thousands of workers will lose their jobs,” Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Prgmea) chairman Shehzad Salim said at a media briefing here on Tuesday.

Export of chemicals, pharma products surges 43.02pc

The export of chemicals and pharma products surged by 43.02 percent during first quarter of current year as compared to the same period of last year.

The country has exported the commodities worth US$ 257.232 million during July-September 2011 against the export of US$ 179.853 million in July-September 2010.

Pak Petroleum, Coal Exports Up 38 Percent

Pakistan’s petroleum and coal exports rose by over 38 percent in the first quarter of 2011 compared to the corresponding period last year.

During July-September 2011-12, it exported petroleum and coal products worth $374.48 million compared to $270.56 million during the same period in 2010-11, The News reported Wednesday quoting the Federal Board of Statistics (FBS).

Pakistan’s textile export earnings to fall by $1 billion

Weak demand and higher output has depressed world cotton prices and will cost Pakistan more than $1 billion in key textile exports for the fiscal year 2011/12, despite an expected bumper crop, industry officials said on Wednesday.

Textiles and cotton account for nearly 60 percent of Pakistan’s exports and are a major source of foreign exchange for its fragile economy, kept afloat by an $11 billion International Monetary Fund loan secured in 2008.

“This year’s textile exports will be between $12.0 billion and $12.5 billion, because of the fall in world cotton prices,” Yasin Siddik, a top industry official, told Reuters.
